This is what I'm excited about right now! My husband has done his job - I finally am officially into most of the bands that are high on his list. I went from digging the poppy radio-crap to really loving some pretty darn heavy stuff in just a few short years! lol! I really wasn't his intention to convert me... it just kinda happened that way. How can I help it when the music is freakin' awesome?


The new Testament CD came out this week and though for a long time I didn't understand thrash metal in the least, I'm really like Testament now. They're a lot more awesome than I ever figured I'd think they were! [link]

I still love Silent Waters by Amorphis, their album which came out last year. Freakin' great!!! They take all the best elements out of Eclipse and expand on them and it just rocks! It's heavy but it has some really awesome clean vocals in there, too. Very melodic. [link]

Eluveitie is a Swiss band with more members than I can count but their recent album, Slania, is fantastic. They combine traditional gallic/celtic elements with a heavy old-school swedish death-metal sound reminiscent enough to old In Flames to be awesome but original enough not to sound like every other in-flames-wannabe band out there right now. It's been a little while since Kamelot put out Ghost Opera but I still keep coming back for more. That style of voice usually gets old on me but Khan does it incredibly well... they really capture an epic atmosphere in that album. [link]

It has been a bit longer since Keep of Kalessin put out Armada, I think, but it's fantastic and I'm really hanging out for their new album, Kolossus, which really sounds like it is going to be even more epic than their last! This is another band that seems to keep getting better. [link]


Though it came out in 2006, Dissection's ReinKaos still kicks my ass. I swear it will be the best Anti-Cosmic Metal of Death you will ever hear! lol [link]


I'm looking forward to new albums by:

Wintersun... I guess they're in the studio and I'm excited to see what direction he's taken the next album!
The Kovenant... if they ever get around to finishing and releasing Aria Galactica.
Keep of Kalessin, Kolossus, which is bound to be epic and amazing!
Atrocity - I'm intrigued to hear what they come up with next, now that they are done making 80's covers! lol
Nox Arcana, Grimm Tales. It's out already, but I don't have it! That is the best stuff to listen to if you are role-playing a horror campaign.
Enslaved... I don't even know if these guys are in the studio, but I'm really hanging out for their next album. Isa and Ruun are absolutely fantastic.
